Federal tax credit (25C)

The 30% federal tax credit for heat pumps ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025. A mini-split installed in 2026 does not qualify.

IRS: Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit

Federal rebates run by Texas (HEAR & HOMES)

Federal money still exists, handed out by the Texas State Energy Conservation Office. HEAR is for income-qualified households (up to $14,000 per home, including heat pumps). HOMES is for any income (up to $8,000, based on energy saved). Texas has not opened applications yet.

Your electric utility

Many Texas utilities pay rebates for efficient heat pumps. In Dallas–Fort Worth, Oncor’s programs run through participating contractors, usually January to November each year.

Oncor residential programs

Installing it yourself? Most rebate programs pay through a participating contractor and need proof of professional installation. A DIY install usually won’t qualify. If a rebate matters to you, read the program rules before you buy, or call us and we’ll help you figure it out.

Find your electric utility on your power bill (Oncor, CoServ, Farmers Electric, and so on).
Check its rebate page for heat pump or mini-split programs, and note whether it requires a participating contractor.
Search your ZIP code on the ENERGY STAR Rebate Finder and DSIRE for anything else in your area.
Sign up for Texas SECO updates so you hear when HEAR and HOMES open.
Keep your paperwork: the receipt, the model numbers, and the AHRI certificate for your system. Most programs ask for them.
